The Lighthouse Jazz Quartet is led by consummate musician and without a doubt, one of the finest performers on the Monterey Peninsula, Bob Phillips.

All the members of the Lighthouse Jazz Quartet (Paul Contos/Stu Reynolds on saxophone, Dennis Murphy/Zach Westfall on bass, Mike Shannon on drums) have performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival and their combined bios include creative collaborations with such titans of the music industry as Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Stanley Jordan, and Wyclef Jean. Each has earned impressive credentials within the world of jazz music. The Wild Fish presents these esteemed jazz artists every Friday and Saturday night.

Phillips specializes in all styles of music ranging from swing and pop to classical and jazz, all performed with a mix of integrity and flair. Over the course of a career that has spanned over six decades, Bob has gigged at Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, the Waldorf Astoria, Birdland, and the Village Vanguard. He spent a year on Broadway and also ran his own New York studio, hosting rehearsals and auditions, writing special material, and making recordings.

Named “Musician of the Year” by the Monterey Dixieland Festival, and awarded permanent artist in residence, Bob has also been honored by the Monterey Jazz Festival with an endowment in his name which helps to sustain over 20 Monterey County high school students who are chosen every year from over 28 schools to be members of the Monterey Regional All-Star Band.

Well known for his exceptional technique and versatility, Bob has performed five times at the Monterey Jazz Festival and is currently in demand all over Central and Northern California.
