A New Look at Our Timeless Past

A wispy animation between the old Monterey Jazz Festival logo and the new Monterey Jazz logo on a purple background. Overlaid with the text 'A new look at our timeless past.'

In 2025, Monterey Jazz will look back at our history and towards the future in a series of posts that reflects our motto, “Timeless Since 1958.” As we have seen many history-making appearances, personal stories and musical notes that have shaped our view of jazz in the 20th and 21st centuries, we will celebrate the moments that have inspired us and kept us coming back for more over the course of 68 festivals. Our new logo is based on the playful typography that graced the covers of the 1958 and 1959 programs—a play on Mid-Century Modern, hip, asymmetrical geometric, minimalistic, and very West Coast. We hope you enjoy this journey—past, present and future!
